Bio: Bleak | Funebrial | Twilight Falls | Omni Mortuus | Soulfuckingblight

bleak is atmospheric/ambient/raw dark/black metal and dark ambient. bleak is insipired by depression, nature and misanthropy.
for the most part, all recordings have been done using cheap equipment, and pirated software. the kind founders of metalhordes helped with the recording of the vocals in the two most recent works, allowing sole member, anthony, to make use of california state university, chico's recording arts equipment.
bleak is not about being grim, nekro, ns, kvlt or any other trends that affected teens may be buying into within the different sub genres of black metal. bleak is about despair, depression, hopelessness, etc. bleak is about the realization of inevitable death, loss of all that is valued, and the absolute, inavoidable failure of mankind, and all that mankind has created.

Excellent music here. You preform a vast array of different atmospheres.Very cold at times very dark at times very sad almost depressing at others and sometimes(majority) your doing it all at the same time.Your music is very inspirational to me.Glad I stumbled apon Metalhorde and "Bleak".I am burning these tracks to CDR and will be listening to this tommorrow at work.Thank you.I play Black Metal myself, not quite as instrumental as you thats for sure, but very "Black Metal".Check it out sometime when you get the chance here in the BM genre listed as "Ragnar"

greetings!
the "austere" release shall be released by arkadia productions within the near future as a pro cd. there will also be a limited vinyl release, and some t-shirts.
the "reflections on death" release is still available at christcrusher productions, and was rereleased on tape through lifeless productions, which is a label started by myself and a friend. the price through lifeless is only $3 / release.
there is also a split between bleak and twilight falls, and the old "of infinite nothings" release which were available via the metalhordes store exclusively. i don't know if either are still available, or if the metalhordes store is even still operational, but i'm willing to bet that you can contact emile or ian here, and they can likely hook you up.
i'll email this to you as well. thanks for the kind words, and take care. Posted by: bleak on October 28, 2004 |

| and... |
also, blackthrone productions may or may not be operational at the moment. if they are still operational, i do believe that the cd release of "reflections..." would be only $5. Posted by: bleak on October 28, 2004 |

sounds a little bit too much like a wyrd song. why improvised? needs a lot of work... and some real drums. in my opinion. Posted by: aesthenia on June 12, 2005 |
|

which wyrd song? i improvised at the end because i had established an atmospehere, and wanted to see what i could come up with when i simply closed my eyes and went with it. i was very happy with the results, as i thought that they captured the atmosphere completely. regarding drums, i did not want to detract from the atmosphere, and wanted simple drumming. i'd have preferred to record them myself, but i don't have proper equipment to record drums decently, so the drums would have drastically detracted form the recording's quality, and detracted from the trance that the atmosphere attempts to create.
